MAR MENOR REGION

Together, we support, care and move forward.

We improve the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s, parkinsonism and other neurodegenerative diseases, as well as that of their relatives.

About us

An association growing to reach more people

Our journey began in 2014, when Genoveva Ortiz Díaz founded the Parkinson Mar Menor Association (APAMM) to support people with Parkinson’s disease in the Mar Menor region and their relatives.

In 2026 we broadened our scope and became the Parkinson Mar Menor and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases Association (APAMMEN).

Our area of activity includes San Javier, Santiago de la Ribera, San Pedro del Pinatar, Lo Pagán, Los Alcázares and Torre-Pacheco.

Therapies and services

We work in a specialised and coordinated way to promote independence, wellbeing and participation in community life.

Physiotherapy

Movement, balance and independence.

We work on mobility, balance, coordination, strength and fall prevention through exercises adapted to each person’s needs and abilities.

Speech and language therapy

Communication and swallowing.

We provide activities to maintain and improve speech, voice, language, facial expression and swallowing, supporting safer and more functional communication.

Social work

Information, guidance and support.

We support people and their families in accessing resources, benefits and services, and guide them through social-service procedures.

Psychology

Emotional wellbeing and quality of life.

We provide emotional support and tools for coping with changes associated with the disease, both for the person with a neurodegenerative condition and for their family and carers.

Adapted exercise

Physical activity adapted to each person.

We promote movement, flexibility, coordination and participation through group exercises adapted to each person’s pace and abilities.

Occupational therapy

Independence in everyday life.

We train skills and strategies that help people manage daily activities more independently, adapting tasks and routines when necessary.

Nursing assistant care

Comprehensive care and support.

We provide support with basic care and day-to-day monitoring through a close, person-centred approach.

Cognitive stimulation

Memory, attention and orientation.

We use exercises and activities to maintain and strengthen memory, attention, orientation and other cognitive abilities.

Mutual support groups

Support, listening and shared experiences.

We create meeting spaces where people can share experiences, receive support and connect with others facing similar situations.
